This morning we woke up to sun! Beautiful morning and a free day. We decided to go into Galway. Rembering directions to the bus stop we walked up to the main road. We met a very nice local lad who gave us info when the bus was due. He checked on his phone to tell us it would be 4 minutes late. He was off to Tenerife in the morning and the temperature there was going to be the same as we had there, very unusual for this part of the world apparently. Another couple came from the camp site. We got on the bus which promptly took us back to a stop just outside the site which we had missed! That caused a lot of ribbing from other people from our group who got on at the stop.
In town first stop was at a coffee shop then we wandered through the streets. Simon managed to find a pair of sandals as he had left his at home! Then we walked along the river and several canals. Everyone was out fishing or sitting in the sun, very relaxed atmosphere. We found where river trips left from the quay and
found a very nice lunch stop. a lot of court officials were also eating there.
We caught the boat the Carrib Princess along with 3 coach loads of Americans. They managed to talk over all the commentary. We went up the river and onto Lough Carrib before turning round back again. It was very relaxing in the sunshine.
When we got back we walked down to the harbour and walked along the seafront back to Salthill. People were on the beaches, diving off a board on the rocks and enjoying the sun. I even had a paddle and the water was surprisingly warm. When we got back it was a quick trip to Joyce’s supermarket for some supper. Afterwards we joined the group for marshmallow toasting round the barbecue. Sadly the wind got up and it got quite cold even wrapped in coats and blankets. So we soon gave up and went back in the warm.
